    • The fact that the search committee has  taken 8 weeks and still no news suggests that this is not an inside hire. (22/1/13)
    • All eligible Canadian candidates have to be excluded first, so it takes a while
    • All candidates get considered. Citizenship laws don't slow down search committees much. Plenty of Canadian universities invite people for campus interviews three weeks after the deadline.
    • It could be a budget issue, or they already made invites for campus interviews and those people aren't on the wiki.

    • To add to the previous question - has anyone actually tried to contact the dept to see what is up?
    • postings often say "subject to final budgetary approval" and this should not be seen as conclusive evidence that the job has been cancelled. In Canada, deans rarely open a job search unless they are certain they can pay for it. I think it is more likely that the search is delayed or that the three short-listed candidates (there are rarely long lists in Canada) don't use this site (2/18)

  • Tenure-track position in Ancient Mediterranean history at the level of Assistant Professor, commencing August 1, 2013, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates will hold a PhD and be able to demonstrate that they are engaged in an energetic and productive research program in the history of the Ancient Mediterranean, and should show competence in the primary source language(s) of their research as appropriate.
