I just happened to be scrolling down on this page and your post caught my eye. Otherwise, I would never have learned that you were aware of my second identical rejection email. I know you are busy, not just with this job search but with your other responsibilities. However, we, the applicants, are also busy and have our own responsibilities (job, school, family, etc.). We spend a lot of time (which we don't have) on and put much effort into our applications, and many of us have to cut into our ramen budgets in order to send SCs our letters of recommendation and/or other application materials. Our livelihoods, nay, our futures are at stake here. I think all many of us want is just a little courtesy from SCs, regardless of how our candidacy for a job plays out. I must say, however, that at least this year my rejection email from Stonehill was addressed to me by name. *The History Department and the Commonwealth Honors College (CHC) of the University of Massachusetts Amherst invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Transnational Spanish-Speaking History beginning 1 September 2012. Duties include teaching in both the History Department and the CHC. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching specialties focus on the study of Spanish-speaking people in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. We expect the successful candidate to draw upon other existing strengths in the department, including the Public History program, which could provide additional avenues for community engagement and outreach to neighboring Latina/o communities.
