  • on higheredjobs. Posting date was [22 Dec]. I just thought it was strange because I didn't receive any sort of confirmation/rejection. 
  • It's not uncommon for human resources departments to post jobs on strange dates vis-a-vis the search process, I wouldn't read anything into it, especially if it hadn't been posted there before. Typically, this sort of thing is a bureaucratic misfiring.

      • Do you mind disclosing whether you're Canadian or not? Just wondering to what extend the "Canadian first" policy is actually followed. 
      • That would be anecdotal. It is and it isn't. Look at the universities where Canadian faculty members received their degrees, and you will see that Americans and other foreigners are often hired but that Canadians are also often hired for positions where there surely good foreign candidates.
      • Not the OP, but a permanent resident married to a Canadian citizen. My understanding of the policy is that it's so open-ended as to be meaningless. It's the institution's call on what candidate best fits the qualifications of the job, so they can pretty much hire whomever they want, Canadian or non-Canadian.
