The Department of English at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in American Literature (1945-present) and Southern Literature at the rank of assistant professor to start July 31, 2015, pending final administrative and budgetary approval. We seek a faculty member committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and academic service. The successful candidate will maintain an active research program and teach a 3/3 load including sophomore American Literature surveys, upper-division courses in American Literature for majors, and specialized graduate seminars.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in English, or closely related field, and evidence of successful teaching are required. Evidence of scholarly publication or activity is desirable. We especially welcome candidates with auxiliary interests in one or more of the following areas: film, theory, digital humanities, disability studies, and ecocriticism.

Mars Hill University (NC) - TT Assistant Professor of English - Appalachian Literature[]
The English program in the Department of Language and Literature at Mars Hill University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position, to begin in August 2015. The successful candidate for the position will be a specialist in Appalachian literature.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will share our faculty's commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and to the liberal arts mission of the institution. A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment. Undergraduate teaching experience expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties will include teaching four courses per semester, to include general education courses (including first-year composition and introduction to literature), American literature surveys, and upper-level Appalachian literature majors courses; advising English majors; service to the institution; and ongoing scholarly activity.
Candidates should submit a letter of application, CV, three references, statement of teaching philosophy, and any other supporting documents (e.g., course syllabi, student evaluations, etc.)
