Kibitzing - Opinions, Rumors, and Chitchat

  • Please note that the Yale job is genuinely open field -- drama and performance studies, ethnicity studies, gender studies, and work on the 18th-early 19th centuries are meant as non-exclusive examples of areas of interest.

  • There are very few updates on the specific job postings -- nothing happening yet or people just not posting about it? Hoping the former!
    • Good question. It does seem that the wiki has fallen out of favor among Slavists, whereas it remains popular with other fields. Is there another source of information that I don't know about?
      • I haven't heard from anywhere other than Penn State, which I posted about above. My guess would be that ASEEES interview invitations will be any day now (if, of course, they haven't been extended already). But ASEEES is unusually late this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if interviews hadn't been scheduled.

Did anyone who interviewed at the ASEEES (for any job) get a campus invite? I need to be put out of my limbo-misery at this point. (x2)  ^ I had several interviews at ASEEES and have yet to hear from any of the committees. This is not unusual. Typically, the committees meet the following week, formulate their short list, and then send that list to the deans, who can sometimes take several weeks to decide on their selections. Of course, every institution does things slightly differently, but 'limbo-misery' is normally a months-long condition at this time of year.

So the Oklahoma job never got posted on here, but if anyone has any news, I'd be interested to hear it. Skyped with them last week, now playing the waiting game.

  • 2/4 campus interview request (x2)
  • 3/10 offer accepted
