Position Summary: Dominican University of California seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English to lead faculty development in Rhetoric and Composition and to contribute to curriculum in Digital Humanities. coordinate and teach courses in the English Language and Culture BA and MA programmes and may contribute to the Faculty’s bachelor programme on European Languages and cultures and research master programmes of Classical, Medieval and Renaissance Studies and/or Literary and Cultural Studies instigate, coordinate and conduct research in the field of modern English literature and culture supervise PhD theses obtain external funding for research fulfil organisational roles within and possibly outside of the faculty represent and promote the Department of English Language and Culture in fostering and expanding national and international contacts.

Qualifications

The applicant is expected to:

hold a PhD in the field of modern English literature and culture have proven excellence in academic research, as demonstrated by publications in leading international journals and books published by high-ranking publishers be an excellent, dedicated and innovative teacher with a broad teaching portfolio have proven experience in supervising PhD students have a clear vision on the future of language and culture studies be open to collaboration in teaching and research have organisational and administrative competence have been (and be) successful in acquiring external funding for research be willing to acquire a passive knowledge of the Dutch language be willing to take up residence in or near Groningen.

Conditions of employment

The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience. For candidates at full professor level, the salary ranges from a minimum of € 5,219 to a maximum of € 7,599 (salary scale Full Professor 2 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities) gross per month for a fulltime (1.0 fte) position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees. For international candidates an advantageous tax rule may be applicable.

The new professor will start work in January 2017. An assessment may be part of the procedure.

Brandeis University (MA) - Florence Levy Kay Fellowship in the Literature of the Long 18th c. (1660-1830) - CAMPUS VISIT STAGE[]

Brandeis University invites applications for a two-year, non-renewable Florence Levy Kay Fellowship in the literature of the long eighteenth century (1660-1830), beginning Fall 2016. This appointment will be split between the Department of English and the program in Comparative Literature and Culture, and preference will be given to candidates with comparative research topics. The Fellow, who will be appointed as a faculty member at the rank of lecturer, will actively pursue his or her own research interests and teach one course per semester. The Fellow will receive a 2016-2017 salary of $57,500, plus benefits, with moving expenses (around $1,500), and a research fund of up to $4,000 per year. Ph.D. must be in hand by September 2016. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the following fields: the history and theory of the novel, the literature of migration, transatlantic narrative, the literature of revolution, critical race theory, women’s and gender studies, and/or travel writing.
