Another discrepancy: PhD in hand by December 31, 2015 on the Indeed posting vs. PhD in hand by June 30th 2016 on the actual UF site.
  • Can anyone else confirm the request for additional materials on 12/5? Given that the deadline for application was 12/4, it seems a bit odd, and it looks like someone has vandilized at least one other entry on this page, posting about offers being made prior to interviews being held (see Una74's reversion of edits by 68.80.192.203 on 12/5). If someone else can confirm, then great. Otherwise, should we consider that this may be a false report?
  • It would be great to have other users confirm further requests. However, to clarify this was posted from a different IP than the clearly false offer notes. Also, I do think this post is more plausible, as it is simply a request for materials, there was some initial confusion about the deadline (which means many may have applied earlier), and sometimes SCs do make requests on a rolling basis, as they work through apps (which means more may be yet to come). But, yes, it would be helpful if others could chime in. --Una74 (talk) 16:37, December 6, 2015 (UTC)
  • I know at least one person who received a request -- seems like they might be doing it on a rolling basis
  • I received an email request on 12/5 for dossier and evidence of successful teaching. I sent in my letter, CV, and writing sample about 2 weeks ago, well ahead of the suggested 12/4 deadline.
  • I received a materials request today (12/6). I applied on 12/4. Email suggested that they want a rapid turnaround.
  • I also received an additional materials request, 12/7; applied on 12/4 (noted my request above)
  • This message was left on my wall re: this position: "U Florida pre-1800 job: UF has made no offers. We have indeed been requesting materials on a rolling basis, reading as applications came in, in order to meet our tight schedule. Interviews will be scheduled soon with the first tier of selections--hopefully candidates will be contacted by Tuesday 12/10. But if we requested materials, your application is still under consideration until the position is filled, It was a great group--please be patient and we will be in touch as we are able. Thank you to all the applicants for your interest in us, and for the opportunity to read all your good work." [Not clear whether they mean today (Thurs. 12/10) or next Tues. (12/15) ... will let you know if this gets clarified] --Una74 (talk) 02:04, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

  • Also posted at Romanticism/Victorian/19th 2016
  • 11/21  If there were 4 who reported being asked for additional material on the Rom/Vic site and zero--so far here--might this suggest a slant towards 19th century for this "18th and/or 19th C" post?  Or perhaps there were more 19th century applicants who could miraculously hit all the right notes for this job that asked for someone doing gender and women's studies and the specified period, _as well as_ creative writing, DH or film studies.
  • I wouldn't try to deduce anything from this information. I know people who received requests who simply don't care to use the wiki.
  • Why don't you mark those down here, then?  I thought that was the point of the Wiki. (11/23)
  • This position is to replace an eighteen-centuryist who left after a year for Tufts-- so it would be surprising if they weren't at least somewhat interested in the field. Unless they're just feeling once bitten twice shy.

  • I am also an 18th-centuryist who got a request.
  • Does anyone know when W&L will extend visits for campus interviews?
