Averett University's English Department invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor rank to begin August, 2015.
Early and Early Modern English Literature: The ideal candidate will have the reach to teach Shakespeare and Renaissance literature through the early modern period as well as medieval literature.
Writing and Later British Literature: The ideal candidate will have expertise in creative and technical writing with the ability to teach a variety of courses in Later British Literature (Restoration/18th century to contemporary literature). Averett is looking to expand the number of English majors through the growth of a writing program.
Both candidates must have a sound background in the teaching of composition to support the general education curriculum in addition to offering courses in the major. Background in one or more of the following areas-English education, technical writing, literary theory, service learning, minority writers, environment and literature, and women's and gender studies-would be a plus. The ideal candidates will teach general education, lower level and upper level major courses, and will be willing to teach in both face to face and online modalities. Faculty also participate in ongoing multidisciplinary curriculum development and assessment, engage in academic scholarship, and serve on appropriate university committees.
Qualifications: Candidates should have appropriate graduate education in the fields listed above, and priority will be given to those with a completed doctorate by the time of appointment. Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate level is preferred.
Rank & Salary: Assistant professor rank. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The School of the Humanities at the Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in post-Renaissance British Literature.
The standard teaching load is 12 credits per semester. All English faculty are expected to teach a variety of literature courses at all undergraduate levels, as well as academic writing. The successful candidate will share the commitment of the faculty to student-oriented teaching, advising/mentoring, and a continuing process of learning assessment and will be expected to develop a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service at the levels of discipline, school, college, and university.
Requirements: Applicants must have completed a PhD in British or Comparative Literature and have strengths in at least two traditional period-fields (e.g. eighteenth and nineteenth centuries). Union College (Schenectady, NY) invites applications for a one-year visiting position, nonrenewable, specializing in Eighteenth- or Nineteenth-Century British or British and Continental Literature, in the Department of English, beginning September 2015. Ph.D. must be in hand or near completion by the time of application. Courses will include three separate intermediate courses in 19th and/or 18th -century literature and its historical context and/or related areas of interest, as well as three iterations of the department’s introductory course, “Introduction to the Study of Literature: Fiction.” Faculty at Union teach two courses in each of three ten-week terms. The English Department invites applications for a one-year non-renewable Visiting Assistant Professor replacement position. Specialist in British Literature from the Restoration to 1800 with demonstrated expertise in Rhetoric and Writing. Teaching experience required. Teach undergraduate courses across two semesters: sophomore-level breadth courses in Restoration and Eighteenth-Century literature, a senior seminar in area of specialization, junior-level writing intensive-courses in advanced rhetoric and writing.
