2. Please mark the title of the position using the H3 header.

3. Please include the deadline and a web link to the ad/website; PLEASE follow the format of other entries.

4. For logging comments or updates, please begin your entry with a bullet point. Each entry should have a separate line.

5. For substantive comments or updates about status, interaction, etc., please include the date at the beginning of your entry so that users can scan the info quickly for new entries.

6. Please do not post names in "Accepted Offers" until an offer has actually been accepted. Do not post a name if an offer has merely been extended, as this is not fair to the candidate's students, or to the candidate him/herself, who may need to negotiate with his/her current institution, etc. Ideally names will only be posted on the wiki by the candidate him/herself, after accepting an offer, or by a third party with some corroborating evidence (university press release, link to successful candidate's website with announcement, etc), but I know that's not always possible since people hear things through social media or word of mouth. • Know they were holding interviews a few days ago.
• 1/10: Just out of curiosity, how did you hear they're holding interviews? I called today and was told they haven't made any cuts or conducted any interviews yet. Maybe they did hold interviews and weren't content with their top choices or maybe their interview candidates all turned it down and they're still looking for other candidates? I'm sure schools say things to not give away too much information, but that's just what I was told today so I'm not too sure as to what's going on with this position. Just wondering!
• No firsthand knowledge here, but since the spring semester began on 1/8, it seems unlikely that interviews were underway. And yet I could be wrong.

• While it's frustrating that many positions go to internal candidates, it's ultimately the school's decision on how they wish to develop their program. Please don't go trash talking the people they ultimately hire; you weren't part of the search committee and know nothing about the type of person they're looking for. These comments on this page do no good. I might be wrong, but aren't all public universities required by law to post open positions even though they know from the start they're going with their internal? Don't blame the university for what they're required to do, and above all, please keep your negative opinions to yourself and only post updates pertaining to the positon. I know nothing about this position, the university, or any candidate, but it's a piano position so yes, the candidate can obviously play the piano. • Hi everyone. I (5120j) used to admin/update this page, but no longer have the time. All you pianists out there will need to take the initiative to post and update job listings yourselves, as creating/setting up the page & RSS feed will be the extent of my involvement this year. Best of luck!

Do not be discouraged about the search result. Just keep applying as many jobs as possible until you hit the jackpot. Not only that many job posts are fake but even in the real searches, who knows if the committee really wants to take the best candidate or not? Let's face it, many professors probably will never get their current job if they are on the job market right now. Good Luck !
