• Three-year visiting assistant professor position in transnational studies or postcolonial studies, beginning July 1, 2020.
• We wish to welcome a new colleague who has demonstrated experience or interest in first-year humanities programs, first-year seminar programs, or similar interdisciplinary, foundational collaborative teaching projects in the humanities. A PhD or in some cases an MFA in any cultural studies, history, literary studies, arts or performance studies, or a similar interdisciplinary or area studies program, with a focus on transnational or post-colonial topics, by July 2020 is required.

Lancaster University (UK:Eng)

• Lecturer (~tenured asst/assoc) in the History of the Global South. This is a full-time indefinite appointment to start 1 July 2020.
• The Department wishes to attract the best, innovative academics with a passion for the history of the Global South. We will be particularly interested in people who specialise in one or more of: East Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the Francophonie or Latin America who can place an emphasis on the cultures and agency embedded in contexts of the post-colonial world. You should have an excellent profile in teaching and research as well as concrete plans for future projects and outputs.
• You will be expected to have completed your PhD and show evidence that you will have a strong set of publications for the 2021 Research Excellence Framework and its future equivalents. Candidates with a monograph that is complete or very close to completion will be preferred.
• You will have experience of undergraduate teaching (preferably including the design and delivery of your own modules), and will be expected to be able to teach postgraduate modules and supervise doctoral students. You are likely to be expected to teach at least one fifteen credit module including a survey module introducing students to the history of the Global South. You are also likely to be expected to develop a special subject on a more specialized topic. An ability to be able to contribute to one or both of our new MA programmes – in Digital Humanities and International & Military History – would be an advantage. In addition, you will make a more general contribution to the department’s teaching program at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, for example by contributing to team-taught courses and supervising dissertations and theses. It is likely that you will be able to ‘phase in’ their teaching during the period 2020-2023.
