• I don't know about your institutions, but neither of mine would release an OFFICIAL transcript to a student, so "transcripts for faculty positions must be an official copy scanned into an electronic format and attached to the application" is simply not possible.

• Every institution that I've attended would give official transcipts to students. You have a right to your transcripts. Why wouldn't they provide them to students? 
• Let me rephrase that: if you scan official transcripts in, they "become" unofficial, as "COPY" appears all over the scan. It was the electronic attachment part of the instructions that gave me pause. It wasn't until I actually applied that I found their note saying unofficial transcripts were acceptable until the candidate was actually hired. Probably miscommunication with HR.
• Has anyone heard anything about this?  Considering the AHA is less than a month away I suspected to hear something either way by now.  A flight to Atlanta is getting more interesting by the day...
