      • Did you hear via email? My interfolio account now has a section to upload a writing sample and reference letters but I didn't receive any communication directly... [Nov 2] X2. [Nov 2] Does Interfolio allow you to upload the documents? I just checked and I have the same request.  The writing sample prompt asks for a sample by November 1st, but I never received a notification/email communication and I don't have the option to upload a document.  It just requests a writing sample and letters with no "upload" button.  
      • [3 Nov] OP here - yeah, my interfolio account had those sections, but no buttons, same thing. I think this is probably just some weird feature where those sections were only enabled (with the "add" button) for people who were actually shortlisted. When I emailed the department I then got an automated interfolio-generated rejection, so I would guess this is a broader problem but you could always email them to find out too.
      • Nov. 3 - I also originally had my interfolio account receive the request without additional communication. When I emailed the department to ask, the request was withdrawn within a couple of hours with no other communication.

  • The Lecturer will be expected to pursue independent research in the history of slavery and in addition, in the first two years of the appointment, to research the legacy of historic slavery to the University of Aberdeen in its civic and regional context within the North-East of Scotland. The latter research will be undertaken with the support of relevant stakeholders across the institution, including Museums & Special Collections. The Lecturer will be expected to develop opportunities for engagement with relevant communities in and beyond the University and to develop funding applications for such activities.

  • Appointment to this position offers an opportunity to lead on the University’s research into its own historical relationship with slavery in the Americas, and on its future engagement with the city of Bristol, its institutions and communities on this issue. It also allows the individual appointed to provide academic leadership in an area of critical importance to the School of Humanities and the University, and, in concert with the Centre for Black Humanities, to cement Bristol’s international reputation as a hub for scholarship in this area. The appointee will have the opportunity to play a key role in the ongoing development of the History Department, School of Humanities, the Faculty of Arts and the University.
  • The successful candidate will have established an international reputation in research and publication, and will show the potential to maintain and further enhance this reputation. They will have experience in public engagement and impact work, as well as in academic leadership, and a strong understanding of the current research environments in the UK and internationally.
