The Department of Music at Carleton College invites applications for a position (0.5 FTE, non-tenure-track, eligible for health benefits) as Instructor of Violin and Viola beginning September 1, 2021. We seek a dynamic teacher and performer with an understanding of, and commitment to, music performance in an undergraduate liberal arts setting.  In addition, candidates should possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and an ability to adapt to novel teaching conditions necessitated by the pandemic.  A Master of Music is required; a doctorate (DMA) is preferred. The successful candidate will teach weekly, private violin and viola lessons along with bi-weekly masterclasses.  Additional opportunities to coach chamber music groups may be possible as needed by the Department.

To apply, please visit the Carleton College Web site at <https://careers.carleton.edu/cw/en-us/job/492297/instructor-in-violin-and-viola> and submit an online application by May 28, 2021, including a letter of application, your C.V., a teaching statement that includes comments on working with a diverse student body, a link to approximately 45 minutes of video of representative performances on both the violin and viola, and contact information for three letters of reference.
