Bucknell University’s Department of Women’s and Gender Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in the Fall semester of 2018.

We seek a women’s/gender/sexuality studies teacher-scholar with expertise in modernist literature. In addition to courses related to their particular area(s) of expertise, the successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies and upper-level courses in areas such as history of sexuality, women’s literary history, modernism, and/or feminist theory, as well as courses that contribute to Bucknell’s general education curriculum.

This project examines how hearing voices can impact on those with severe mental illness including schizophrenia and psychosis, and also in everyday situations. An interest in research relating to the modern period and the broader field of medical humanities, with a methodological focus on cognitive literary studies. The ability to recruit and supervise PhD students, lead research groups and mentor those in the early stages of their research careers. QUALIFICATIONS: Though we will consider candidates who are ABD, preference will be given to those who have completed the PhD.

THE POSITION: This is a full-time, tenure-track position for a generalist in British literature after 1700. A secondary area of specialization in creative writing is welcome. Primary specializations in Romantic, Victorian, or twentieth-century literature are desirable, as is expertise in postcolonialism or ecocriticism. All department members teach upper- and lower-division courses, including first-year composition. The college operates with a 3-1-4 (or 4-1-3) course load that includes a 3-week January term. Willingness to advise and work closely with students is essential. Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience; the position includes a full benefit package.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Languages and Literatures includes five tenured or tenure-track faculty as well as contingent members. We offer two areas of emphasis for English majors (Literature and Writing) as well as a Spanish major and (newly) a Publishing major. We also offer teaching endorsements in English and Spanish and participate in the college's Master of Arts in Teaching program. Approximately 40 students are English majors and minors, another 10 are Spanish majors, and a handful are Publishing majors. The department also provides general education courses taken by almost all of the students at Hastings College.

Massey University's School of English and Media Studies is established on three campuses in Palmerston North, Auckland and Wellington. It has a strong record in teaching excellence and pastoral care in an interactive learning environment. Courses are taught in internal and distance learning modes (including online delivery), at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The School currently offers programmes in English, Media Studies, Creative Writing, Expressive Arts, Public and Professional Writing, and Theatre Studies. Applications are invited for an 3 year fixed-term, full-time position as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in English (US equivalent Assistant/Associate Professor) within the School of English and Media Studies at Massey University (New Zealand). We are looking for a candidate with research and teaching strengths in twentieth century literature.

All applications will be carefully considered, but we particularly encourage applicants with additional specialisations in one or more of the following areas: contemporary literature, genre fiction, postcolonial literature, transnational literature, environmental literature, and digital humanities.

As the successful appointee you will be expected to make a substantial contribution to the School's core courses in English literary studies ("Introduction to English Studies" and/or "Literary Landmarks: Words that Changed the World"), and contribute to the ongoing development of the undergraduate and postgraduate English programmes. The Massey English BA English major consists of three literary strands - nation and period, genre and theme, and New Zealand and Pacific - and a fourth strand of creative and applied writing courses cross-listed from related programmes. Candidates are also encouraged to look at the School's full range of programmes and consider possible areas of synergy and cross-disciplinary co-operation in their teaching.

The position is based at Massey University's Manawatu campus in Palmerston North. The level of appointment will depend on qualifications and experience. It is anticipated that the selected candidate will take up the appointment in January 2018. The appointee will have a completed PhD at the time of application. Academic publications and other evidence of ongoing research, as well as experience of teaching English at University level are expected. An ability to teach English at postgraduate level and to supervise research up to and including PhD level is required. The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), invites applicants for two (2) continuing lecturer positions to begin July 1, 2018. We are seeking generalists with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching to teach lower-division required courses in the literature and writing tracks of the English major and courses in the Core Curriculum. These may include courses in 20th century British and American Literature, 20th century Ethnic American Literature, professional writing, or creative nonfiction.
