The Department of English Language and Literature at Christendom College seeks a full-time faculty appointment to begin August 15, 2013. This is an entry-level position.
The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load that may include any of the literature courses in the core curriculum, major-oriented courses in literary criticism and/or poetics, and courses in his field of expertise. The department especially welcomes candidates who specialize in medieval literature. A Ph.D. and teaching experience are preferred, but the department will consider particularly well-qualified ABD candidates.

Concordia University Chicago seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Department of English (rank commensurate with experience and qualifications), beginning in the Fall of 2013. The department seeks candidates with a specialization in pre-1800 British literature.
Responsibilities will include teaching upper-level courses in Medieval, Renaissance (including Shakespeare) and Eighteenth Century British literature, as well as general education courses in composition and literature. Ability to teach courses in world literature or introductory linguistics is also desirable. Teaching load is 4-4, with an expectation of student advising, service to the university, and ongoing scholarship.
Required Experience: Candidates should be committed to undergraduate teaching in the environment of a Christian university.

The English Department at Duquesne University seeks a specialist in Medieval Literature, with a strong secondary area of expertise preferred, at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure-track), to begin in the fall of 2013. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach a range of courses, including specialized graduate and advanced undergraduate courses in Medieval Literature, the British Literature Survey 1 course, and courses in early world literature. The ability to develop courses at all levels in secondary areas of interest is also desirable. Scholarship or the strong promise of scholarship is required for consideration. Excellent teaching and the publication of peer-reviewed research is necessary for both tenure and promotion. Successful candidates must be able and willing to teach and work with MA and PhD students. For faculty with established scholarly records, the typical teaching load in the department at the present time is 5 courses per year. The PhD degree is highly preferred, and completion of the degree is required for appointment at the level of Assistant Professor.

Tenure-track Assistant Professor position, with a joint specialization in the literature and culture of the medieval period (c. 5th-15th centuries) and in the history of the English language, beginning September 1, 2013. We especially welcome applications from candidates whose interests are cross-disciplinary, trans-historicist, and comparative.

Subject to final approval from university authorities, the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at Ghent University (Belgium) will soon advertize two tenure-track positions as docent (equivalent of Lecturer in the UK system and Assistant Professor in the US system) with a focus on academic research. The advertisement will include four disciplines; the two posts will be awarded to the candidates most likely to contribute to the Facultys strong research profile. The Department of Literary Studies wants to draw attention to the vacancy in European literature from Antiquity to 1900, and asks potential candidates to get in touch now, so as to receive detailed instructions on application deadlines and procedures as soon as that information is available. The successful candidate will play a central role in the organization of the new two-year M.A. programme in Historical Linguistics and Literature (ancient, medieval and early modern). This M.A. programme teaches students to decipher texts from earlier periods and to situate them in their wider historical, social, cultural and philosophical context. Coursework focuses on diachronic linguistics, techniques of textual analysis, history of ideas and cultural history as well as period-specific topics in the various languages taught in the department. The Department of English at Dickinson College seeks a one-year visiting assistant professor in British literature. Given that our medieval and our eighteenth-century instructors will both be on leave, the successful candidate will specialize in either the Middle Ages or the eighteenth century, with an ability to teach engaging courses in several areas of pre-1800 British literature at the introductory level. The teaching load is five undergraduate courses over two semesters: for this position, two introductory courses, two mid-level writing-intensive courses, and one upper-level course in field of expertise. At Dickinson, every member of the department teaches at all levels, and innovation in both teaching and scholarship are prized. They posted this ad two weeks before their deadline, and they want official transcripts sent by email? Has anyone asked them about this? Two weeks does not sound like enough time to guarantee that official transcripts will make their way to the committee.
A: I have official grad and undergrad transcripts uploaded on Interfolio, so this would be a very simple request for me to fulfill--I suggest you see about doing the same. I have no idea how I did it, but I'm sure you could figure it out!
Response: Yeah, I should probably do that. But this is the first time I've had to send official transcripts on such short notice, so I wasn't prepared. I am going to email them and ask if unofficial copies would be ok (unless someone else has already asked this question.)
- The phrasing "a copy of official graduate transcripts" would suggest that scans uploaded to Interfolio (as the user helpfully suggests above) would suffice. Usually schools don't need sealed/signed official transcripts unless they are actually on the brink of hiring you.
