  • Tenure-Track Assistant Professorship in Latin American and Caribbean history, to begin Fall 2020

Auburn University (USA: AL) (non-TT) Instructor

  • The Department of History at Auburn University invites applications for one (non-tenure-track) position a the rank of Instructor.
  • The appointee will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate class in Latin American history as well as our core World History sequence (HIST 1010 and 1020).
  • This position would carry a 4-4 teaching load, with a merit distribution of 100% instruction. This would involve 2-3 sections of 1010/1020 each term, as well as 1-2 courses in Latin American History.
  • The History Department embraces Auburn University's commitment to increasing diversity among its administrators, faculty, staff, and students. The Search Committee welcomes applications from candidates whose record of research, teaching, and/or outreach strengthens the department's ability to offer diverse perspectives to our students. Auburn University is an R1 institution, and the Department of History supports research activity for its instructors by providing some travel and other professional development funds to instructors and other non-tenure-track faculty.

California State University, Channel Islands (USA:CA): Central Am. or South Am.

  • The Department of History at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Latin American History. 
  • Research fields and subfield specializations are open but those with expertise in public/digital history or LGBTQ history are especially encouraged to apply. 
  • Teaching load is typically 2-3 and will include the world history surveys, and the historical methods course required of majors, as well as upper-division and graduate courses in modern Latin American history and in the candidate’s subfield. 
  • Three of the university’s major strategic initiatives are the academic engagement with and promotion of Peace, Justice and Human Rights, Diversity, and South Florida Cultures. The ideal candidate would become involved substantively in one or more of these. The faculty member also would be encouraged to participate in the college’s PhD in Comparative Studies program and in the development of an “Americas” multi-disciplinary area of excellence.
