Cornell University (NY) - TT Assistant Professorship in Northeast Asian Critical Humanities (incl. Japan) - OFFER ACCEPTED
The Department of Asian Studies at Cornell University welcomes applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Northeast Asian Critical Humanities. We seek teaching and research strengths in Japan and/or Korean studies, ideally including trans-national/inter-Asian empirical and theoretical interests. Earlham College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies, a tenure-track position. The position in the Japanese Studies Program begins in July 2018.
The College's hope is to find a colleague with expertise in the Visual and Performing Arts or the Humanities who is committed to helping to foster an innovative Japanese Studies program that is diverse and inclusive. The Program is particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses in pre-modern or modern Japanese literature and whose courses intersect with existing programs in the Humanities or Visual and Performing Arts.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: This is a full-time, nine-month position that includes a teaching load of three courses per semester. In addition to teaching courses in their area of expertise, the successful candidate is expected to share teaching of the Program’s core courses Introduction to the Study of Japan and Senior Capstone Experience. Candidates whose teaching and scholarship relate to literature, visual and performing arts, art history, film and media studies, or popular or visual culture of Japan are highly encouraged to apply. Language teaching is not expected as part of this position.
In addition to teaching, the successful candidate is expected to be actively involved with institutional committees, academic advising, and leading off-campus study programs. Finally, the successful candidate should carry on active scholarship focusing on Japan or East Asia.
Experience & Qualifications: Candidates with an earned doctorate are preferred, though ABD candidates will be considered provided they can demonstrate significant progress towards completion of the dissertation. The Graduate School of Humanities, Nagoya University, Japan is pleased to announce a job opening for an Associate Professor starting from April 1, 2018. This position entails instruction at both the graduate and the undergraduate levels.

5. Primary responsibilities: (1) To teach graduate courses in cultural studies (preferably on subculture) or translation studies in the Global 30 Linguistics and Cultural Studies Program.
