Position: The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor of Italian position in the Department of Foreign Languages beginning August 2020.
Qualifications: PhD in Italian at time of appointment and native or near-native fluency in Italian is required.
Responsibilities: Ability to teach a second language is a plus, preferably one currently taught in the department. Teaching experience at the various levels of undergraduate instruction in Italian is expected, as is a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Research specialty is open, with demonstrated ability to teach Italian language, literature, and culture, as needed for the Italian Minor program.

The Department of French and Italian at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of "Transnational Italian Studies." The expected start date is July 1, 2020.
We solicit applications from scholars of Italy with a primary research interest in transnational studies, and invite applicants working in any period in Italian Studies, Comparative Literature, History, Art History, Sociology, Anthropology, Global Studies, or other cognate fields as long as they can demonstrate a research focus in transnational issues and the capacity to teach courses with a strong cultural component.
Preferred fields of specialization include transnational / diasporic studies, migration studies, Mediterranean studies, translation studies, postcolonial theory. The successful hire will be expected to foster curricular and research integration with departments across the humanities and social sciences, from Global and International Studies and History to Art History, Sociology, Religious Studies, Film and Media Studies, and Black Studies, among others, as well as programs such as Comparative Literature and Middle Eastern Studies.
Required minimum qualification: ABD or equivalent at the time of application, and completion of the Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) in one of the areas listed above by the start date of the position. Other requirements include: native or near-native competence in Italian and in English; demonstrated capacity for top-level research, teaching, and administrative service; research productivity commensurate with years of experience.

CIMA 2020–21 Fellowships
Each year the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) awards multiple CIMA Fellowships to support research and study of Italian modern and contemporary art for doctoral and post-doctoral scholars. Citizens of all nationalities are eligible. CIMA offers a unique experience to its fellows: the annual exhibition serves as a hub for scholars from diverse academic backgrounds to share research derived from the artworks on view with each other and the public.
