Bennington College - Faculty Member in Public Policy (International/Global) - Dec. 15[]
Bennington College seeks a full-time faculty member in public policy at international/global scale. Desirable areas of expertise and research include, but are not limited to, political economy, natural resource economics, environmental policy and economics, trade and labor policy, regional/international trade and integration. Candidates whose work and interests creatively bridge disciplines in and beyond the social sciences will be particularly attractive. Experience with quantitative methods in teaching or research will be considered an asset, as will the ability to complement the areas taught by the existing faculty.

Duke University (NC) - 2 Year VAP, International Comparative Studies[]
International Comparative Studies (ICS) at Duke University invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position that begins August 1, 2013. Duke University is located in Durham, North Carolina in the U.S.A. International Comparative Studies is an undergraduate interdisciplinary program that bridges the humanities and social sciences. The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in an area related to the intellectual focus of ICS and will demonstrate evidence of an active global or transnational research and publication agenda in a relevant discipline or interdiscipline. The selected candidate will also demonstrate ability to teach core ICS courses, work effectively with students and colleagues, and contribute appropriate service in the program, including undergraduate advising. The International Studies Department at Macalester College seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in the interdisciplinary field of Global Media and Information, to begin Fall 2013. A vibrant department at the heart of the College's mission, Macalester’s International Studies approaches a broad range of global phenomena from multiple disciplinary, regional, and trans-national perspectives. Successful candidates will have research and teaching interests in fields such as global video/television/film, the Internet, telecommunications, worldwide news and information, or cross-border images and media. The history, sources, migration, distribution, audiences, aesthetics, and gender and racial dimensions of media, information, technology and culture are all of interest. Candidates trained in any humanities or social science discipline are encouraged to apply.
We seek candidates of broad geographic reach, preferring those with research or teaching expertise in the overlapping and permeable categories of East Asia, South Asia, the Indian Ocean sphere, the Islamic world, and/or Latin America, all broadly thought. The Department of International and Global Studies at MERCER UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Global Health, with an emphasis on Social and Behavioral Health. Duties will consist of teaching seven undergraduate courses, which may include: Introduction to Health Science, Global Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Global Health Policy, and other courses in the candidate's specialty areas. As faculty in the College of Liberal Arts, there is also an expectation to teach courses in the general education programs as a component of the annual teaching load. The successful candidate will take part in the evaluation and refinement of the undergraduate degree in Global Health Studies, and have the opportunity to develop new courses in their area of specialization. Research involving undergraduates is highly encouraged.
PhD or DrPH from an accredited college/university in Public Health with a concentration on Social and Behavioral Health Science or Global Health, completed by the start of Fall 2013. Emphasis on Global Health issues, Public Health Systems, Health Development and Inequalities, Population Patterns, Pandemics, Epidemiology and/or other related areas, and with promise of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity. Strong preference will be given to candidates with formal training in writing instruction, and a background in liberal arts education. Membership in Phi Beta Kappa is considered an advantage.

University of Texas at Arlington - Director of Interdisciplinary Studies[]
The School of Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for the position of Director of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. This program serves an academically and socially diverse group of more than 500 undergraduate students, providing the integrative learning skills they need to leverage coursework spanning the university’s academic offerings toward individualized and rigorous Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Science degrees. The candidate will be hired as Associate or Full Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies.
The duties of the Director will include active research and teaching, program administration, curriculum development, student recruitment, and outreach to other degree programs on campus. The successful candidate will have a publication record and scholarship commensurate with rank, administrative experience, and a vision for programmatic and curricular development that enhances the program’s core mission of integrative learning. The program is currently developing Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies. The new director will be an integral part of developing the MA program. Preference will be given to candidates who present a clear vision for both the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

Western Kentucky University - Asst. Prof, Honors Interdisciplinary Studies - ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS Edit[]
This faculty position continues a trend of new tenure eligible faculty positions dedicated to the Honors College. The new faculty will play an important role in developing the first track (Citizen and Self) of the College’s new four-part interdisciplinary core offering. Basic expectations include demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students in a living/learning environment, and service to the institution. Candidates should also show outstanding potential for a productive research program and grant writing. Disciplinary specialty is open, but we seek teacher-scholars who are eager to work collaboratively with exceptional students in an interdisciplinary environment, teach innovative team-taught courses/seminars, utilize problem-based pedagogies, and participate actively in the intellectual life of the Honors College.
Teaching will be focused in the Citizen and Self track of the Honors College core curriculum. This track concentrates on building theoretical knowledge and practical skills for effective citizenship. Course format includes team-teaching large group lectures and leading small breakout seminars. Successful candidates must have the skills, experience, and/or potential to work with the track leader to develop a course that emphasizes:
- Exploration of the role of citizen as a problem-solver and co-creator of public goods
- Theoretical knowledge and practical skills that prepare students to work effectively in their communities, social groups, and broader society to initiate and achieve social change
- Development of strong writing and research skills, with a focus on knowledge creation
- “Citizen Professionalism” and the role of the professional as collaborator, organizer, and catalyst for positive social change Engagement with methodologies and approaches to public and community-based research
- Interdisciplinary perspectives, methods, and insights to critically examine social issues
