National Taiwan University (TWN) - American Literature (2 positions) 

Established in 1928, National Taiwan University is a leading research university in Taiwan with over 30,000 students. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFLL) welcomes applications for the following faculty positions.

General requirements: Minimum requirements include a PhD in related fields and a strong publication record. Teaching experience at the university level is strongly preferred. All full-time faculty members are required to teach DFLL service courses such as writing, conversation, and (if applicable) Freshman English and also (if applicable) to direct theses and serve on various university and department committees. Some knowledge of Chinese and experience in teaching in a Chinese-speaking environment is a plus. Track Four—American Literature. Two full-time positions preferably in the following fields:

  • Early American Literature to 1865: early colonial, national American literature, Native American studies, early African American literature, or/and Transatlantic studies.
  • 20th– and 21st-century American Literature: modern and contemporary American literature with secondary interests in avant-garde cultural studies and electronic literatures.

The Department of Literary Studies has a tenure-track vacancy in the field of Literature in English, to start on 1 September 2021. The position is the equivalent of lecturer in the UK system and assistant professor in the US system, and embraces academic research, teaching, and service. The department looks to hire a scholar whose research focuses on some aspect of post-1800 literature, and who has the capacity to teach and supervise across the period from ca. 1800 to the present.
