Antioch College is seeking applications for a tenure-track appointment in Postcolonial and/or World Literature for Fall of 2013. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in English, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, or related discipline in hand or expected by May 2013 and be prepared to teach Introduction to Advanced Study in Literature and course(s) in critical theory. The successful candidate will be able to provide proof of dynamic, innovative teaching at the undergraduate level, including upper-division and core, Foundations-level courses within the major. The College is seeking a colleague who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and has strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. Rank and tenure status are open depending on qualifications, and salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the interdisciplinarity of the Humanities, primarily through connections between literature and philosophy, as well as one of the team-taught, interdisciplinary, thematic Global Seminars. These theme-based courses are focused on water, food, energy, health, education, and governance. In addition to teaching responsibilities, applicants will also be expected to be involved with academic advising, including overseeing Senior Projects/Theses in the major. The position will also require institutional service, including committee work and program assessment. There is an expectation of ongoing scholarly and professional activities.

Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a four-year degree-granting institution of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications and nominations for a full-time Assistant Professor of English Composition tenure track position. Atlanta Metropolitan State College currently serves nearly 3000 commuting students at its main campus which is located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta and 15 minutes north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts offers the Associate of Arts Degree in English, Music, Speech, Art, Mass Communications, General Studies, and Foreign Language (Spanish and/or French).
This is a ten-month, tenure track faculty position which reports to the Dean of the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts. Teaching assignments typically include English writing/composition courses taught at the freshman and sophomore level, although other courses including Developmental English, 19th Century and Early American Literature may be assigned. The individual hired will start in Fall 2013. In addition to teaching, Faculty responsibilities include student advisement, professional/scholarly activity, and institutional service on division and college committees. Individual will be expected to develop a strong program of scholarship. Experience in teaching British literature surveys is also welcome.
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in English or closely related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester hours (thirty-quarter hours) in English Composition. Candidates who are ABD and can show that the degree will be in hand by start date will be considered. Preferred candidates will have a strong interest in instructional practice, teaching experience in secondary, post-secondary and/or adult settings. Additionally, preference will be given to a candidate who has sub-specialties in one or more of the following areas: creative writing, multimodal literacies, new media, and/or humanities. The successful candidate should possess the ability and desire to provide quality instruction to students with diverse backgrounds while effectively collaborating and cooperating with other members of the faculty, staff, and administration. Applicants must have a history of effective teaching at the collegiate level and possess knowledge of educational technologies (e.g., Web-based and/or Web-enhanced instruction).

- 12/16 The committee has not finalized the candidates whom they are inviting to campus yet, so I am confused on how a campus interview could have been scheduled. Is this for the lecturer position that they are also looking to fill?
- Maybe, but it also seems possible that the committee moved more quickly to issue a campus invite to a specific candidate that seemed to be an especially good fit from the phone interview stage.

About the Position: Located in the scenic Hudson River valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. The undergraduates, known as cadets, are commissioned as officers in the US Army upon graduation. You can watch them on parade or competing as intercollegiate athletes in a wide range of sports events. As a military installation, West Point is a small, self-contained city with housing for the military stationed here in support of the Academy, a Department of Public Works to maintain the roads, grounds and facilities, two libraries (Academic and Community), a military hospital, fire department, chapels, restaurants. West Point's 3,000 civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valley's premiere performing arts center, and to recreational facilities such as an 18-hole Golf Course and Ski Slope.

A Post-Doctoral Program in Support of the Learning Paradigm and a Diverse Academic Environment
Overview: The Westminster Teaching Fellows Program is currently offering a multi-year fellowship in English Composition and Literature for recent doctoral graduates. We seek candidates who will flourish in a program that is dedicated to student learning and who will help the College provide an inclusive learning environment for our increasingly diverse student body, integrate diversity issues into the curriculum, and/or provide a focus on global consciousness in the curriculum.
The Program: Westminster College is dedicated to providing new PhDs with opportunities to develop proficiency within a student-centered, active-learning paradigm, as well as to providing a diverse academic environment for its students. To that end, we have created the Westminster Teaching Fellows program to attract and support promising post-doctoral scholars whose life experience, research, and employment background will contribute significantly to the academic excellence of the College.
The College's commitment to both domestic diversity and internationalization is revealed in its core values, mission, and vision statements, as well as in its college-wide learning goals. Moreover, Westminster's most recent strategic plan includes a commitment to investing in programs, facilities, and people that are critical to our long-range vision of preparing students for success in a diverse, global society.
Candidates with experiences, skills, and potential to provide mentoring and academic support to historically underrepresented students (students of color, LGBT students, students with disabilities, first-generation college students) and to help develop Westminster's curricular and co-curricular offerings in these areas are strongly encouraged to apply to the Westminster Teaching Fellows Program.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, each Fellow will:
- ·Participate in a year-long faculty development program that includes:
- Monthly discussion groups focused on a topic related to the learning paradigm
- Classroom observations by experienced faculty at least once a semester, followed by constructive feedback and discussion
- Videotaping of one class for personal review
- ·Be assigned a faculty mentor throughout their fellowship
- ·Participate in regular on-campus Westminster faculty development activities
- ·Have the opportunity to teach in Learning Communities with experienced faculty (second year)
- ·Participate in employment-readiness opportunities (second year), including:
- Mock interview
- Mock research presentation
- Mock teaching presentation
Teaching Load:
- · Regular 24-hour teaching load (may include undergraduate research options), which usually translates into a 3-3 course load.
- · Majority of teaching responsibilities will be in Composition & Research and Introduction to Literature, two courses required of all Westminster students. Upper-division course in the candidate's field of study may be available, especially during the second year of the fellowship.
Appointment:
- · Two year appointment with the possibility of a third-year extension.
- · Appointment will be reviewed annually by English program chair and Dean of Arts & Sciences.
- · Fellowship recipient must provide proof of authorization to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship will not be considered for this fellowship.

Wofford College (SC) - Instructor in English - SEARCH POSTPONED[]
The Department of English at Wofford College invites applications for a position as Instructor in English. This is a full-time, two-year position and is renewable but not tenure-track. Candidates must have a terminal degree in English language and literature. Preference will be given to candidates with college- or university-level teaching experience, especially the teaching of writing The instructor will be expected to participate fully in department and college service and will be accorded the rights and benefits commensurate with the rank of Instructor, including professional development opportunities.
The starting date is Fall 2013. The instructor will teach three courses every fall, a January term course beginning in 2015, and three courses every spring. The courses include a seminar in the humanities for first-year students (Humanities 101), a 200-level introduction to literature course, and a seminar in literature and writing (English 102).
