* This recent round has been dismal in terms of schools getting back to you about the status of applications-form emails are starting to look good!
** I agree. I feel as though I am in a limbo not knowing anything and, of course, I begin to speculate as to why I have not heard anything, which is never good.
** It helps to hear someone else is in the same boat! I talked to my advisor who said things were running late this round because a number of schools don't have their budget and people are just returning from vacation. I'm ABD, but really close to being done-will defend this year-but none-the-less it seems the general consensus is that committees aren't even looking at candidates if they're not done.
** I know of at least one ABD who got a TT job this year. It is still possible!
** The unfortunate thing is that so many film studies positions get cut whenever there is a budget crisis. Hope open searches won't be slashed.
