  • Associate professorship in European medieval history c.700-1500, with special emphasis on the Nordic region, to begin 1 Feb. 2022.
  • Teaching: The associate professor will be expected to teach and supervise students at all levels (BA, MA and PhD) and contribute to the further development of a dynamic teaching environment, in collaboration with other colleagues. The position involves teaching topics in European, Nordic and Danish medieval history, ranging from the Viking Age to the later Middle Ages. The successful applicant will also contribute to teaching across the BA and MA programmes in history, including courses in historical method and theory, and to interdisciplinary teaching activities.
  • Most of the department’s BA and MA teaching is conducted in Danish, but applicants must also be able to teach and supervise in English at university level. If the successful applicant is not fluent in Danish, s/he will be expected to acquire the language within a period of approximately two years
  • In the application, applicants should explicitly present their vision and plans for the development of research in the field of the medieval history of the Nordic region. Finally, applicants are asked to provide a research plan for the next three years as well as stating how they see themselves and the department contributing to future research developments within the field. University of Ottawa (CAN:ON) - Slovak History and Culture

  • Assistant Professor level, but higher ranks will be considered under exceptional circumstances.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses on Central European history, including courses on the history and culture of Slovakia. A critical aspect of these expectations will be the provision of teaching and mentoring to graduate students at the University.
  • The candidate will be expected to implement a research program in Central European history that includes Slovakia and will lead to scholarly publications and which has the potential of attracting, developing, and retaining excellent students and future researchers in addition to external funding, and to supervise these students in writing theses and research papers.
