  • Invitation for Skype interview (Dec. 19)
  • So they have or haven't invited candidates to campus? (Feb. 2)
  • They have not. It looks like someone maybe posted an update under the wrong school. The search chair made a comment below a few weeks ago explaining how they, for some reason, divided their Skype interviews into 2 separate groups, like a month apart. Does that mean they're interviewing as many as 25-30 people? I really hope not, for everyone's sake. I assume they won't start getting back to people for campus interviews until mid-Feb at the very earliest. So hang in there for just a few more weeks, you already exhausted, beaten, downtrodden, sleep-losing candidates on the academic job market! (Feb. 3)
  • Has anyone heard back from them who applied with Jan 31 deadline?
    • Nothing here [Feb 14]
  • Any updates on campus visits? [Feb 19]
  • Does this mean the initial phone interview for the Jan 31 deadline has already happened? (Feb 24)
    • Yes. I wrote to the chair yesterday, they have invited finalists to campus. [Feb 27]

Search Chair Here (Dec 21):   Applications received by Jan 31, 2019 will be given full consideration.  We are doing a first round of Skype interviews in Jan 2019, and a second round of Skype in Feb 2019 after all applications are received and evaluated.    If you wish to be considered for the position, please submit a complete application.

  • Received email about passing initial screening--a shortlist will be available soon
  • Request for Google Hangouts interview [2] (Nov 16)
  • Inquired about why some got "pass initial screening" and others interview requests.  No answer.  My guess "pass initial screening" is simply a waiting list if others decline interviews
  • Not sure if this is hepful, but I got the initial screening email, followed quickly by the request to schedule an interview. Maybe they're scheduling in blocks? [2]
  • Search cancelled. Form letter.
  • They had exactly the same thing happen with a Russian search a few years ago.  It was canceled after the first round of interviews.  WTH is going on at this place.
  • I didn't get the letter--would someone mind posting the text of it?
  • It was sent via email. I don't feel comfortable pasting it here. I had interviewed via Google Hangouts and then three members of my committee were contacted by phone. Very friendly interactions. They asked for me to be patient, as I might not hear from them again for a few weeks and then one week later I received the form letter by email saying they had cancelled the search. I contacted the chair of the committee who very politely confirmed. Not much else to tell. These things happen I suppose.
