• The Jewish Studies program at Michigan State University invites applications for a newly endowed chair and tenure-system position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Holocaust Studies and European Jewish History, with additional strengths in the study of Antisemitism.

  • Did some digging in response to comment above; seems Siena Heights is on a semester system (fall/winter semesters) but they have a v. small faculty and as far as I can tell, only one tenured person in the history department, and she is teaching three courses this fall. So I think the load is at least 3/3, which is definitely not 4/4/4, but definitely it's a teaching heavy job at a school that serves a v. non-traditional student body.

• I don't know anything about UBC's slow response to sexual assaults. But I do know they have been incredibly slow at getting back to candidates about this job (two years in a row now). They really couldn't care less about doing things the right way.
• Just so you know, this is not "incredibly slow." Many US schools are only now reviewing their files and deciding on AHA interviews. Canadian schools (such as this one) operate on a different hiring schedule. They tend not to use major conferences such as AHA for preliminary interviews, but rather go straight to bringing candidates to campus in January or February. Thus this doesn't seem like a slow search to me.
• Just so you know, you are wrong. The due date for this was two months go. I have already finished my first round of interviews (or received rejection notices) for all of my Oct. 1 applications. This search has been going on for two years. So yeah, it is pretty slow.

Aarhus University (DEN) - Scandinavian/Danish Cutural since 1945

• Assistant or associate professorship in Danish/Scandinavian Cultural History since 1945, to begin 1 Aug 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter
• If an assistant professor is appointed, this will be a three-year probationary position and subject to appropriate funding a subsequent associate professorship in the same subject area will be announced in open competition. If an associate professor is appointed, the position will be a permanent, full-time position.

Experience of working in teams will also be highly appreciated since department staff often collaborate on the development of new methodological and theoretical approaches to the study of cultural history.

• Tenure-track or tenured professor in Jewish history and culture, with special emphasis on the civilizations of Spanish-Portuguese Jewry both within the Iberian Peninsula and throughout the Sephardic diaspora.
