Assistant Professor in English with specialization in Environmental Humanities & New Media Tenure-track, 9-months, beginning August 2011. The faculty member in this position will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in areas of specialization such as literary theory, film, and environmental literature as well as teach American or British literature surveys and composition. Teaching and research interests may involve ecofeminism, ecocomposition, digital media, environmental or food writing, literature and science, the rhetoric of sustainability, social justice narratives, multicultural literature, and the public humanities. A PhD in English or terminal degree in related field is required. Record of publication and teaching experience is preferred. 2/2 teaching load to begin. Some interviews may be conducted at the MLA Conference in Los Angeles. Assistant Professor of Writing (Environmental Writing)
The Department of Writing at Loyola University Maryland seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with a terminal degree in Rhetoric & Composition, Creative Writing, or Writing Studies to teach three sections per year of our core composition course (WR100) as well as advanced environmentally focused prose courses such as Nature Writing and Translating the Secrets of Science. The typical teaching load is six courses per academic year. Terminal degree must be in hand by August 15, 2011. Record of effective college-level teaching, including introductory composition; demonstrated commitment to teaching the first-year writing course; ability to teach upper-level environmentally focused prose courses; record of presentations and/or publications that demonstrates scholarly promise in hiring area; demonstrated ability to use technology to enhance writing instruction; commitment to Loyola's Jesuit educational mission. Environmental Humanities, Assistant or Associate Professor The University of Delaware seeks a scholar with substantial research and teaching interests in the broadly defined field of “Environmental Humanities” to contribute to a vibrant university-wide commitment to environmental research. We seek applicants with a Ph.D. in a traditional humanities field such as History, Cultural Anthropology, English, Cultural Geography, Area Studies or Foreign Languages who can also demonstrate scholarly expertise working between disciplines including, ideally, the humanities and the environmental sciences. Scholars interested in areas such as environmental justice, colonialism and post-colonialism, and global environmental history would be especially encouraged to apply.
