United States Air Force Academy (Colorado) Application Window is 8 - 19 May

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Department of English and Fine Arts invites applications for two one-year, full-time positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning 9 July 2017. Appointments will terminate on 30 May 2018. Responsibilities will include teaching a 4/4 load (avg. class-size 17), advising students, and serving on departmental committees. Candidates must have the ability to teach writing/composition and literature courses. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate a record of innovative teaching and interdisciplinary scholarship. Qualifications: Applicants will be assessed based on teaching credentials, education, and fit to our current curriculum. A PhD in English or a related field (Literature or Rhetoric/Composition) is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have recently earned their doctoral degrees and demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching/writing. Essential qualities expected of every faculty member include the personal attributes of integrity, industry, cooperation, initiative, and breadth of intellectual interests. Applicants must provide hard copies of official transcripts for each degree obtained, a CV, a letter of interest, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Applicants must have their degree in hand by start date.

The United States Air Force Academy, located just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is an undergraduate institution that awards the Bachelor of Science degree as part of its mission to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation.

Faculty applications are invited from candidates who can contribute to this mission by interacting with cadets, both in and out of the classroom, as instructors and mentors. The Academy faculty is an integrated group of military and civilian educators. The student body consists of approximately 4,000 men and women representing every state and several foreign countries. The curriculum includes a core of academic and professional courses, 28 disciplinary and interdisciplinary majors, and 4 divisional majors.
