Established in 1928, National Taiwan University is a leading research university in Asia with over 30,000 students. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFLL) welcomes applications for a Russian faculty position.
Minimum requirements include a PhD in a related field, a strong publication record and university-level teaching experience. NTU is a research institution; faculty are expected to pursue national grants and publish in top-tier journals. All full-time faculty members teach at least one DFLL service course such as writing, conversation, and (if applicable) Freshman English, and are free to design their own syllabi for service courses as well as undergraduate and graduate electives. Faculty may direct theses and serve on various university and department committees. Some knowledge of Chinese and experience in teaching in a Chinese-speaking environment is a plus, but not required. Note: though there is not a system of 'tenure' in Taiwan, there is a similar system of promotion and job security.

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literature at the University of South Alabama invites applications for a non-tenure-track, 9-month, one-year-only Assistant Professor of Russian position to begin August 15, 2021. Applicants should possess an earned doctoral degree in Russian or a closely related field, but ABD’s near completion of the degree will be considered. We seek a generalist capable of teaching lower- and upper-division courses in Russian language, culture, and literature. The candidate must demonstrate native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English and excellence in undergraduate teaching at all levels.

Western Connecticut State University’s Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the Macricostas Endowed Teaching Fellowship in Hellenic and Modern Greek Studies for the 2021-2022 academic year.
This is a two-semester, part-time faculty appointment comprised of a partial teaching load in the incumbent’s area of specialization and reassigned time to develop and implement co-curricular experiences, in consultation with the Macricostas Executive Stewardship Committee, that meet the following objectives: (1) Educate students, the university community, and the general public about the contributions that Ancient Greece has made to contemporary civilization; (2) Invite scholarly study of the Classics and Modern Greece; and (3) Demonstrably promote the discipline of Greek and Hellenic Studies at WCSU.
The Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences is home to 13 departments offering 21 undergraduate majors and 8 graduate majors, and offers a variety of ways for students to further their education. Housed in the Department of Philosophy and Humanistic Studies, the Macricostas Endowed Teaching Fellowship is open to any discipline that involves Hellenic and Modern Greek Studies. We welcome all applicants, including those with the required expertise but desire to teach remotely. Applicants who wish to teach remotely must provide evidence of experience with and effectiveness in online teaching and if selected would be able to work from their current location. The Macricostas Fellow will be expected to be available for interactions with students, faculty, and the general public that contribute to the intellectual life of the university and the local community. Examples of cocurricular experiences may include but are not limited to public presentations on the Macricostas Fellow’s ongoing research, consulting with relevant local/regional agencies and organizations, hosting relevant speakers, and organizing in-person or virtual trips to regional events or exhibits of relevant interest to the campus community and general public. The Macricostas Fellow will perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary. Office space, related budget, and travel funds will be provided, as well as shared access to clerical support. Grant opportunities are available to support research and conference attendance.
Qualifications: Terminal degree in an academic discipline related to Hellenic and Modern Greek Studies or equivalent experience/background; record of distinguished scholarship; prior successful teaching experience in a higher education environment; leadership and/or service experience; excellent written and oral communication skills.
