The Film and Media Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University announces one tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Digital Culture to begin August 16, 2011. We are interested in scholars who bridge the gap between critical and creative studies as well as those who have an interest in developing grant and funded projects.
Required: an earned doctorate in film and media studies or a related discipline, a demonstrated record of scholarly promise or achievement, and evidence of teaching experience in higher education. Candidates must be qualified to teach in the core curriculum of the Program, including Introduction to New Media, as well as at the upper-division and graduate levels in their areas of specialty. Those who expect to complete their doctorate by July 2011 are welcome to apply. Desired: areas of specialty in social media, mobile media, and/or video games.

- Q: Have any of those who interviewed at the MLA heard anything about campus visits?
- A: I had an MLA interview and have not heard anything from them yet (01/21). I was told that they were going to contact candidates about campus interviews "at the end of January" (whatever that means). They have four searches going on in the department right now, so I'm thinking that they are still trying to schedule visits. Plus there is likely some kind of admin. office that has to approve things before they contact candidates. Anyone else?
- A: I also had an MLA interview and am still waiting to hear (1/23).
- A: I too had an MLA interview and haven't heard anything (1/24). At my interview I was told that the committee would meet during the third week of January (so I assume last week), and they were also very clear that it would be a while before they could contact people. Hopefully we'll hear something this week.
- I just got a call this afternoon, so the calls are going out. (1/24)
- Does anyone know anything about the remaining timeline here? (2/23) According to the above post, at least one campus interview was scheduled. Do we know when approximately the interviews will be completed? Not hopeful, but you never know.
