The UNL Department of Anthropology and the College of Arts and Sciences invite applications for a split position.  The candidate would serve as both a cultural anthropologist who would be a professor of practice (1/2 course load) and serve as the inaugural director of the College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate honors program called [https://cas.unl.edu/cas-inquire CAS Inquire].  
 
 
Primary duties within the Department of Anthropology will consist of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in cultural anthropology, with an emphasis on ethnographic methods and ecological anthropology. Courses will include an introduction to cultural anthropology; other desirable topics would be global health, behavioral or mental health, epidemiology and nutrition. Regional specialization is open. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain a modest research program.
 
 
Primary duties for the Directorship of CAS Inquire will include: 1) coordination and oversight of the multidisciplinary lecture series that serves as the foundation of the program; 2) coordination of the recruitment and selection of student participants; 3) mentoring and supporting student participants, in collaboration and consultation with key campus resources; 4) teaching courses associated with the program; 5) training upper-division student participants as discussion leaders and supervising their final projects; 6) coordination of the distribution of funds for supporting student activities; 7) working with the College on fundraising; and 8) actively engaging in the ongoing assessment of the program.
 
 
Minimum Qulifications:Ph.D in Anthropology or related field with specialization in Cultural Anthropology. Experience and evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:  Candidates ideally will have 2 years’ teaching experience at the college level; experience managing projects; demonstrated ability to work with a diverse range of students including first-generation students, students of color, students from low-income backgrounds, and high-ability students; substantive experience with student development or retention; experience mentoring students outside the classroom (e.g. supervisor, RSO advisor, etc.); and experience building relationships across multiple constituencies.
