We are looking for active scholars and committed teachers at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels, who are engaged with one or more of the following fields:

1. Performance Studies and Drama

2. Digital Humanities

3. Critical and Literary Theory

4. South Indian Literatures (especially Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu)

Applications are welcomed from people working both in and out of the Anglophone world. Candidates should ideally be conversant with a broad sweep of literatures and theories. Classes to be offered include undergraduate gateway courses as well as upper-level and graduate seminars in individual areas of expertise. An active research profile in areas compatible with those listed above, as well as teaching experience pointing to a vibrant and dialogic classroom pedagogy will be welcome.

In addition to our popular undergraduate programme, we also have a growing graduate profile with our PhD in English already underway and our Master’s programme starting in 2020. Ashoka University is an equal opportunity employer, and will offer competitive compensation packages.

Bucks New University (EU:UK:Eng) - Associate Lecturer in Contextual Studies[]

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer in Contextual Studies to undertake teaching on theory-based modules within the School of Art Design and Performance at Bucks New University from October 2019. Working as part of a committed team this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a subject area with high success in student achievement.

Candidates should have a broad understanding of the relationship between practice and theory and advanced knowledge of contemporary critical and theoretical issues relevant to design film photography visual and material culture. You should also have a strong focus on student learning and development. You will be required to undertake preparation (writing of content) teaching assessment and moderation and provide support to our diverse range of students. Theory classes are normally scheduled on Fridays during the teaching term and there may be an additional day required.

You should have a good degree in a relevant Art Design or Media/Cultural Studies subject and a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline. A publication record or research profile in the subject area would be desirable. Additionally you should possess knowledge of the breadth and diversity of current practices within art design and the creative industries more generally. Experience of teaching in a HE environment would be an advantage.

Goethe University of Frankfurt (EU:Deu:Hes) - Full Professor in American Literature and Theory[]

The Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main will be filling the position of Professor (W3) for American Literature and Culture, beginning in the winter semester of 2020/2021.

We expect that the candidate's expertise represents the entire breadth of American Literature and Culture, both in teaching and in terms of research and publications. Candidates will also need to demonstrate expertise in aesthetics, literary theory, and media history. We seek candidates with an internationally established research profile, as reflected in publications in leading international publications.

We expect that the appointee will participate in and initiate research projects with other researchers across disciplines, work as part of institutional committees, and passionately contribute to university life and the life of the department. The position will be part of the course of study titled "American Studies" in the MA-tier program "Aesthetics" and will also teach literature courses to future teachers of English. Accordingly, it is preferable that the candidate can convey didactic and pedagogic strategies for integrating the literature course content into secondary school curricula.

University of Trento (EU:Ita) - Assistant Professor - Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature[]

The Department of Humanities of the University of Trento invites candidates active in Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature to apply for a position at the Assistant Professor level. The position is initially for a three-year period, renewable once for two further years, with possibility of promotion. The annual gross salary is about 35,000 Euros. The area of research and teaching is Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature.

Requested research duties: The contract holder has to study the aesthetics of the european novel and its origin. Particularly, he/she has to take on a project on the relationship between the novel and the arts led from a supranational perspective in step with the interdisciplinary nature defining the goals of the Literary workshop (LaborLET – Centre of Advanced Studies – Department of Humanities of the University of Trento) and taking into account the author’s critical contributions.

Requested teaching duties: The teaching activities of the contract holder have to carried out in the disciplinary sector L-FIL-LET/14 and in similar sectors and have to be available for undergraduated, graduated and doctorate of the Department of Humanities of the University of Trento.

The overall annual hours of work for research, teaching and office hours for students within the areas indicated above equal 1,500 hours per year. The teaching activities of the contract holder are defined by the Department Council when it plans the teaching program, according to the University regulations.

Foreign language required: excellent level of French (knowledge of English will be an additional asset)

Knowledge of Italian: level adequate to carry out the assigned teaching load (the researcher is required to teach in Italian)

Maximum number of publications to be presented: 12
