The Department of Communication Studies in the School of Communication at Emerson College seeks a tenure track faculty member in the area of Digital Persuasion to join the department at the Boston campus.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a completed a terminal degree in communication or a relevant discipline by the time of hire. Successful candidates must also demonstrate potential for productive scholarly research agenda, continuing professional practice, teaching experience in a diverse context with evidence of potential for teaching excellence, and show the ability to work and collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

The successful candidate is expected to: demonstrate the ability to sustain an active research program; provide evidence of successful teaching; and show the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds with a strong commitment to inclusion and social justice.

Candidates are expected to have experience in digital and online strategies for strategic persuasive communication planning and campaigns using knowledge of social media, online content development, and storytelling in the digital age. Desirable expertise areas also include visual rhetoric, mobile communication, user experience design (UX), and search engine optimization (SEO). Preference will be given to candidates who show a background or affinity for the Department's other curricular areas, which include rhetoric, public relations, political communication, social advocacy, sport communication, public diplomacy and esports. Candidates should show a commitment to the pedagogy of diversity and underrepresented communities.

    The Department of English & Creative Writing and the Sigmund Weis School of Business at Susquehanna University invite interested publishing professionals with experience in independent, university, or trade publishing to apply for Director of the Susquehanna University Press, with responsibility for reconfiguring the press as a student teaching-learning operation, in either a tenure-track or lecturer appointment in Publishing and Media Entrepreneurship (depending on background, qualifications, and preference). The position serves our fast-growing English–Publishing and Editing major and the Entrepreneurship minor/Management major in the SWSB.

    Teaching responsibilities are 3/3 and will include a course each semester dedicated to the activities of the Press, with additional courses from introduction to modern publishing, a capstone course exploring the cultural and social functions of publishing, and relevant courses in either literature, professional writing, entrepreneurship, management, or marketing (depending on qualifications and interest).     Open-Rank, Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Interpersonal Communication at the University of Texas at Austin

    The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for an open rank, full-time, tenure-track faculty member interested in teaching and research on topics broadly related to interpersonal communication. The appointment will begin in August, 2021. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. at the time of the appointment. We define interpersonal communication broadly and welcome a diversity of epistemological and methodological perspectives.

    We seek an applicant who complements our current interpersonal faculty but would be particularly interested in those whose research focuses on topics such as health disparities and health equity, intercultural or interracial communication, bias, marginalized identities (LGBTQ+, Latinx, Black, and/or Indigenous identities), conflict and negotiation (e.g., dispute resolution, crisis management, bullying), social influence, nonverbal communication, and/or technology and relationships (e.g., technologically-mediated communication, virtual relationships, artificial intelligence and interpersonal communication). In addition to teaching graduate seminars, the ability to teach large undergraduate lecture classes and web-based courses on interpersonal communication topics is preferred.

    • The Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology (ICCIT) at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in the area of Mediated Communication at the rank of Associate Professor.     Candidates must have a PhD in communication, sociology, computational social science, network science, information science, or a related area. Candidates must have a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching.
