Bryn Mawr College (PA) - TT Assistant Professor in Children's and Young Adult Literature

The Department of English at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a full-time, beginning tenure-track, Assistant Professor position to begin August 1, 2018, in Children's and Young Adult literature. Candidates may focus on any time period or geographic area, including pre-20th century and the Anglophone world. Possible specializations might include: childhood studies; gender, sexuality, and trans studies; race and ethnicity; disability studies; environmental studies; speculative fiction; and/or graphic narratives. Bryn Mawr's library holdings include The Ellery Yale Wood Collection, a recent bequest of over 15,000 volumes of 18th-20th century British and U.S. children's literature. Candidates must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the start date. Illinois State University (IL) - TT Asst. Professor - English Education

The Department of English at Illinois State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in English Education with research and teaching expertise in the area of literacy studies and/or the teaching of literature at the secondary level. The selected candidate will join an internationally recognized English Studies faculty with a programmatic commitment to social justice approaches to English Education; participate in delivering a well-established undergraduate major; and contribute to strengthening our master’s and doctoral concentrations in English Education. This position offers a 2/3 teaching load with a competitive salary.

Candidates are expected to have:

An earned doctorate in English Education or closely related field by August 15, 2018

Evidence of promising scholarship in English Education

A record of successful college teaching in English Education or closely related field

A record of successful teaching in English language arts at the secondary level

Oral proficiency in the English language, as mandated by state law

We seek a colleague with a commitment to improving teaching in secondary schools, especially public schools, a commitment to diversity and preparing teacher candidates from underrepresented groups, and the ability to help us build a strong collaborative working relationship between our undergraduate program in English Studies, Illinois State University’s College of Education, and secondary schools in and beyond Illinois.

Research and experience in urban teacher education

Experience teaching English Education methods courses

Experience supervising student teachers and understanding of issues related to field observations in diverse settings, practicums, and student teaching internships;

Experience and research with English-language learners

Research in the areas of authentic assessment, multiliteracies, metacognition, and/or multicultural education

Experience with under-resourced secondary schools

A commitment to preparing new teachers for long-term successful careers in rural, suburban, and urban schools.

Kennesaw State University (GA) - TT Assistant Professor - English Education

Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for one nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position of English Education in the Department of English, beginning August 2018. Ideal candidates will have successful experience in secondary school teaching, student teaching supervision, and instruction of English education methodology courses. Additionally, ideal candidates will have expertise in linguistics instruction in secondary English classrooms, new literacies (including media literacy, online/digital technologies, and technology integration in the classroom), graduate-level instruction, assessment (both candidate assessment and program-level assessment), and an established interest in global initiatives and diversity in English education. National Writing Project experience is a plus. Faculty at Kennesaw State University teach in a variety of classroom environments including face-to-face, online, and hybrid.

The School of Humanities (SoH) at NTU Singapore, pursues discplinary excellence and promotes indisciplinary teaching and research. The School aims to equip our students with the up-to-date knowledge, critical thinking, research, and communication skills that will enable them to realise their potential and aspirations to make lasting contributions to Singapore and further afield.

The School of Humanities seeks to fill a tenure-track position, at the Assistant Professor level, with specialisation in British Romanticism.

Canidates should possess a PhD in Romanticism or related fields and demonstrate a strong track record in or potential for research as well as a commitment to teaching and administrative service. Selection will be based on evidence of potential for high-quality research and effective teaching. A possible secondary interest in Children's Literature may be of advantage. The usual workload includes teaching two courses per semester, conducting scholarly research and contributing to university services.
