Our new colleague will have primary upper-level teaching responsibilities in English Language Arts pedagogy, adolescent literature, and language study for teachers, with regular assignments in Early American Literatures, general education literature courses and first-year composition.
Other responsibilities include advising and supervising pre-service teachers and administrative duties in the English Education major. Expertise in both English Language Arts pedagogy and early American literatures, evidence or potential for scholarship, and at least three years of teaching experience at the middle- and/or high-school level are required. Additionally, specific expertise in literature pedagogy and teaching interests in Early American canonical authors will be considered a plus.
Secondary areas of expertise may also include language and linguistics, school/community collaboration, and experience with edTPA (Teacher Performance Assessment). An interest in transnational colonial (French, Spanish, English) literatures and in participating in study abroad opportunities in China are desirable.

THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSE AT CHATTANOOGA DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH Position Announcement: Visiting Assistant Professor
The English Department at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Children's and Young Adult Literature (non-tenure track, with yearly reappointment). Duties include teaching four undergraduate courses each semester (typically three in children's/YA literature and one in General Education literature) and service to the department and college. Qualifications: Ph.D. or A.B.D. with specialization in children's and/or young adult literature, teaching experience in children's and young adult literature, demonstrated excellence in and commitment to undergraduate teaching, record of departmental citizenship, and excellent writing, interpersonal, and communication skills. Appointment begins August 1, 2015. The following materials must be sent by applicants and by individuals who provide references to facultyvitae4@utc.edu no later than Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015.
