Capital University's Department of English seeks an assistant professor of fiction writing, tenure-track, to help maintain and develop a creative writing major. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to liberal education and undergraduate scholarship, and to teaching fiction workshops, general education courses in Creative Writing, and first-year Composition. Experience in teaching British literature: Romanticism to the present would also be a significant plus. A commitment to advising and mentoring students is essential. This position requires a load of twelve credit hours per semester, with about half of that in first-year composition or basic writing.

A doctorate in creative writing or a related field is strongly preferred. A M.F.A. degree is acceptable, but the candidate must have substantial teaching experience and a record of publication.

Greenville College is seeking an innovative Ph.D. in English literature to serve as a full-time tenure-track assistant (or associate) professor in English to start in August 2016. This individual will teach a wide range of undergraduate general education courses in writing and literature and some upper-division courses for majors in the English department. This individual will also serve as a key faculty member in the Center for Visual Culture and Media Studies.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Full-time faculty load is at least 12 credit hours per semester, usually consisting of two to three general education courses and one or two upper-division courses. This full-time faculty appointment will include teaching courses cross-listed in the Center for Visual Culture and Media Studies, and the faculty member will participate in the interdisciplinary work of the Center. Other responsibilities will include assisting in recruitment of students, student advisement, and regular participation in institutional committee work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Seeking applicants with a Ph.D. in English who have specialization in literary studies and significant college teaching experience. Secondary certification in English desirable. Although this is a generalist position, specialization in British literature will be preferred as well as experience in teaching cultural and media studies. Applicants who are able to work well in collaborative, cross-disciplinary environments will also be preferred. The successful applicant should be enthusiastic about teaching basic general education courses in writing, literary analysis, and media studies. Candidates must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching and committed to serving as a role model for students within a Christian academic community. A vibrant personal Christian faith commitment is required, with a strong commitment to a broadly Wesleyan tradition.

The English Program of the Department of English and Foreign Languages offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in English, English with Creative Writing Emphasis, and English with Secondary Teaching Endorsement and a Master of Arts degree in English. Minors are offered in English, Creative Writing, and Communication and Rhetoric. The English Program also contributes significantly to the undergraduate general education for all students through its English Composition program and general education courses in literature and linguistics.

Proficiency with instructional technology is desirable. Expected teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All responsibilities of faculty members at CSU-Pueblo are in accordance with the Faculty Handbook. The Faculty Handbook is the authoritative guide on specific requirements with regard to teaching assignments, scholarly activity, research, and service.

Primary Duties: Teaching courses in English depending on qualifications and program needs. This includes preparing and presenting course material; administering appropriate test(s); evaluating student outcomes; selecting and ordering texts; preparing, administering, and grading assignments; and assigning final grades.
