Wiki page for Academic Jobs in Anthropology advertised during the 2020-2021 hiring season.

Instructions

Why is there one page this year for all subfields?  This is going to make things very confusing and clustered.  Can pages please be split into seperate sites for each subfield as they have always been in years past?

Please add jobs in the following format and order them alphabetically by institution.

  1. Example University (State/Province, Country). Position Title. Specializations. Deadline. TT/NT. FT/PT. Link to Job ad(s). Updates:

TT/NT: Tenure-track or Non-tenure track.

FT/PT: Full-Time or Part-Time

For the sake of user-friendliness, please do not add more detailed content of the job ad on this page. (This is a departure from previous years, when these pages tended to become difficult to navigate. The new guidelines are modeled on more user-friendly Academic Wiki pages serving other disciplines.)

Add updates to the end of each entry as they come in: Additional materials requested, video interview scheduled, campus visit scheduled, offer extended, offer accepted, rejection received.

Please post "Have you heard?" questions above, under Word on the Street.

Please contribute to transparency in the academy by adding yourself and your advisors to the Academic Tree project.

Loyola University Chicago (IL, USA) Position Title: Assistant Professor of Anthropology. Archaeologist of structural inequality, North America. Jan 4th, 2021. TT.

The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, for academic year 2021-22. The department seeks candidates who undertake North American-based archaeological research into material cultures of inequality, with a special focus on race. We are especially interested in emergent archaeologists whose research addresses structural inequality, segregated landscapes, or settler colonialism. Applicants should describe how their research advances goals of community-based collaboration, equity, and justice, as well as how their work could contribute to interdepartmental programs. The successful candidate will be joining a department with eight full-time faculty members, and over 140 majors and minors. For more information about the department, please visit https://www.luc.edu/anthropology.

This search is part of a University-wide, multi-year hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding researchers and teachers who are reflective of our diverse student body and committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines) and the pursuit of external grants. Of special interest are candidates who can further the University’s efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We seek candidates with an excellent record of teaching and research and a deep commitment to undergraduate education. Candidates will be expected to teach two courses per semester, contribute to and develop interdisciplinary initiatives that enhance collaboration between Life and Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Humanities, and serve on Departmental committees. The successful candidate is expected to pursue a strong research program, including the pursuit of external grants.

The candidate will have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in research and teaching and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.

Word on the Street

The Swarthmore job wasn't posted here, but I wonder if anyone has heard back yet? Posting here: https://www.higheredjobs.com/faculty/details.cfm?JobCode=177270543

I was rejected by Swarthmore's Environmental Humanities position on 11/8.

- Likewise, I was hoping to have been notified for a first round interview by now, but nothing. It feels too far gone at this point, but I don't have anything concrete so I also wonder if anyone else has heard anything? (10/13)

- Swarthmore rejection letters were sent out Thursday (10/15)

- I sent materials to Swarthmore after the deadline but haven't received a rejection letter. Any chance they might be considering me?
