Founded in 1919, AUC moved to a new 270-acre state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo in 2008. Job Description: The Department of English and Comparative Literature seeks to appoint a faculty in American literature (open rank) for a full time, tenure-track appointment beginning Fall 2015. Possible fields of interest include, but are not limited to: African American literature, Arab American literature, Multiethnic American literature, American studies, Hemispheric studies, Translation Studies, and Transnationalism. The successful candidate is expected to teach humanities courses in the AUC core curriculum, introduction to literature and introduction to American studies courses, and both halves of a two-semester survey of American literature; actively engage in research; supervise M.A. theses and serve on committees; and provide department and university service. The teaching load is normally nine credits per semester, including courses in the M.A. program.

Requirements: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in English, American Studies, Comparative Literature, or a related discipline by the time of appointment, preferably with a record of an active research agenda and teaching experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Position Summary: The Messiah College English Department invites applications for a full-time, term-tenure track Assistant Professor of English with a specialization in American literature. Responsibilities: Direct the Brandywine Writing Studio, which includes training and supervision of tutors, strategic planning, and collaborating with faculty to enhance writing across the curriculum. Teach one American literature course (3 credits) each semester in the baccalaureate degree program in English at the lower and upper division levels using traditional and hybrid delivery modes. Teaching assignments may require teaching day and/or evening classes as needed. Publish in refereed journals. Participate in professional organizations and in course, curriculum, and program development. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in English, Composition Rhetoric or related area required. Experience with writing center administration highly preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with scholarship or teaching experience in American literature and/or cultural studies. The English program has a philosophical emphasis on cultural and critical approaches to literary study and contributes courses to interdisciplinary programs including American Studies, Civic & Community Engagement, Peace & Conflict Studies, Global Studies, and Women's Studies. Evidence of potential in research and publication and commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is expected. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

ST. NORBERT COLLEGE, De Pere, WI, invites applications for a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in English with a specialty in American literature and culture, non-tenure track, starting August 2015. Renewable for up to three years, contingent on performance reviews. ABDs and PhDs are eligible. Candidates must be prepared to teach a themed Introduction to Literary Studies (ENGL 150) course, a Survey of U.S. Literature-Beginnings to 1865 (ENGL 235) course, and other courses by specialty. Essential Duties: Teach a full academic course load as assigned, hold regular office hours, and participate in departmental activities.
