Adelphi University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in 20th-century American literature, with a specialty in African American literature, the literature of the African diaspora, and Multi-ethnic American literature to begin August 2018. The teaching load is 18-credits (3/3) with opportunities for research release. Our new colleague will teach undergraduate courses including surveys and seminars. We strongly encourage applicants with a specific theoretical research agenda and who can also develop and teach new and existing courses within our "Critical Perspectives" category of upper-division electives. Further, we especially welcome a candidate with a background in teaching a diverse student population and an interest in interdisciplinary collaborations. PhD required by August 2018.

The Beloit College Department of English invites applicants for two tenure-track positions to begin August 2018:

Primary expertise in 20th- or 21st-century ethnic American Literature.
Primary expertise in medieval and/or early modern non-dramatic British Literature.

Desirable secondary areas for these positions are film studies or digital humanities, and both positions require strong background in and commitment to teach expository writing. Both hires would teach a 5 course load annually and contribute to all college programs, such as first-year seminars.

Bucknell University’s Department of Women’s and Gender Studies invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in the Fall semester of 2018.

We seek a women’s/gender/sexuality studies teacher-scholar with expertise in modernist literature. In addition to courses related to their particular area(s) of expertise, the successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies and upper-level courses in areas such as history of sexuality, women’s literary history, modernism, and/or feminist theory, as well as courses that contribute to Bucknell’s general education curriculum.

Evidence of teaching excellence is required. The successful candidate must have an active program of scholarship and a track record of active support for diversity and inclusive, innovative pedagogy. A Ph.D. degree is required.

You’ll need: A good first degree with a PhD in English or a related subject. Excellence in the field of English Literacy Studies. An interest in research relating to the modern period and the broader field of medical humanities, with a methodological focus on cognitive literary studies. World class research outputs, with the potential to secure funding and a clear research plan that supports the departmental strategy. The ability to recruit and supervise PhD students, lead research groups and mentor those in the early stages of their research careers. Excellent teaching skills, with the creativity to tailor and deliver interesting seminars and lectures with the ability to attain fellowship of the HEA. Solid leadership capabilities with good communication skills. We seek an individual with expertise in twentieth and twenty-first century American literature, with preferred fields in one or more of the following: digital humanities, queer studies/literatures, and/or indigenous literatures.

The successful applicant will be an effective teacher with a demonstrated interest in fostering a multicultural classroom, and at least two years of experience as a college or university teacher. Course load will be six regular courses per year, three for English and three for AMST. Courses taught in English may include an upper-level undergraduate course on indigenous literatures, a lower-level course on interpreting literature and another course in the candidate’s area of expertise.
