Thorough understanding of all contemporary musical styles and national recognition as a musician are essential. The ideal candidate will also be forward thinking and possess a commitment to the education of our students. A Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience is required. *The Assistant Chair will serve as an academic and administrative leader of the Department—working under the direction and supervision of the Chair. This is a 12-month administrative position with a renewable contract. Compensation is commensurate with rank and professional experience. *RESPONSIBILITIES: Represent the Piano Department as an administrative leader on- and off-campus. Advance the student experience and the work of the Department, Performance Division, and College. Contribute to curriculum development, review, and management. Assist with faculty and staff hires, development, mentoring, and evaluation. Assist with the development of class schedules and teaching assignments for faculty. Advance Departmental goals. Assist with the management of Department budgets. Serve on Department, Division, and College committee. Assist with student advising. Facilitate Department-sponsored guest artists and events. Teach a minimum of one course per fall/spring semester. Maintain professional engagement. Work collaboratively, in unity with the Chair and Piano Department Staff. Other duties as assigned as specified by the Chair *QUALIFICATIONS: Artist/teacher with established national/international reputation as a performer, educator and administrator. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Command of technology to support departmental and college-wide systems. Masters of Music or equivalent professional experience. An interest in working in a diverse workplace with a multicultural student body.
